Salzburg is well connected by both rail and air, making Schloss Leopoldskron easy to reach from within Austria and further afield. Once you arrive in Salzburg, distances are short and getting around is refreshingly easy.
Whether you travel by train, plane or car, arriving at Schloss Leopoldskron is straightforward. And it does not take long for the pace to change: the city begins to recede, the landscape opens up, and the Schloss comes quietly into view.
Finding Us
Schloss Leopoldskron is located approximately two kilometers from Salzburg’s Old Town, close enough to feel connected to the city yet far enough to offer a sense of retreat. The journey is straightforward: around 16 minutes by car from Salzburg Airport and 17 minutes from Salzburg Main Station, depending on traffic.
Taxis are readily available at both the airport and the train station. Most taxis accept card payments, though we recommend confirming with the driver before setting off. Should you need cash, the nearest ATM is located at Raiffeisenverband Salzburg, Moosstraße 13.
For a more sustainable journey, public transport offers an easy alternative. Bus number 11 stops directly at “Schloss Leopoldskron,” bringing you right outside the palace gates. The Schloss is also easily reached by bicycle from the city center, with ample space available on site to park bicycles securely.
Checking In
Check-in takes place at the Meierhof, the contemporary heart of the property. Here, our team will welcome you and guide you through the first moments of your stay. We keep the formalities simple, allowing you to settle in without delay.
If you arrive early or wish to explore before your room is ready, you are warmly invited to explore the grounds, wander through the gardens, or simply settle in over a coffee. Schloss Leopoldskron is best discovered without a fixed schedule.
Making Yourself at Home
Once you arrive, the pace naturally shifts. Whether you are staying for one night or a little longer, the Schloss should feel less like somewhere you visit and more like somewhere you belong. Move freely between the palace, Meierhof, gardens, park, and your own quiet moments, experiencing the property at your own pace.
Throughout your stay, our team is always close at hand to assist with anything you might need, from practical arrangements to local recommendations. Salzburg's city center and its surroundings are only minutes away - then again, you may simply choose to stay exactly where you are.
Arriving Sustainably
Guests traveling to the Salzburg can download their Guest Mobility Ticket digitally to their smartphone before arrival. The ticket is provided as part of the pre-check-in process and can be used either as a wallet ticket or PDF, allowing you to use public transportation from the moment you arrive. By using the Guest Mobility Ticket, you can travel conveniently by bus and train, contributing to our sustainability efforts by reducing CO₂ emissions and easing traffic congestion. Ownership & Access
Schloss Leopoldskron is privately owned by Salzburg Global. Access to the grounds and buildings is exclusive to hotel guests, event guests, breakfast guests, bar guests, and participants in guided tours.
The property of Schloss Leopoldskron comprises two main buildings: Schloss Leopoldskron, the historic palace, and the Meierhof, its contemporary counterpart.
Accessibility
Both buildings are generally accessible for guests with reduced mobility. As a historic property, however, some areas may present minor challenges such as doorsteps, uneven floors, or narrow paths, and assistance may occasionally be required.

Bookings & Cancellation
Our General Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings.
– Bookings may be cancelled free of charge until 15:00 one day before arrival.
– During the Salzburg Festival, a minimum stay of two nights applies to Meierhof rooms and Schloss suites. Festival bookings may be cancelled free of charge up to 14 days before arrival.
– For later cancellations or no-shows, 100% of the first night will be charged. Seasonal conditions may vary.
Travelling With Your Dog
Dogs are welcome upon request, with a maximum of two dogs per room. A fee of EUR 29 per dog, per night applies. We are happy to provide a blanket, bowl, and waste bags.
Please note that dogs are not permitted in the dining rooms. We also kindly ask you to clean up after your dogs in the garden and park.
